Prazsky Krysarik personality traits and Temperament
The Prazsky Krysarik , also known as the Prague Ratter, is an extremely intelligent, lively, playful, social, and obedient dog. The breed is extremely devoted to its masters and is a very good choice as a family pet. They are very affectionate and they have an extreme need of human attention and seem very eager to please their owners. The owners must be prepared to give ample time to for this pet, and failure to do so can result in psychological problems for the dogs. These dogs cannot be kennelled or left in the yard because of this need for human company and so has to be kept indoors.
The Prasky is extremely fond of children and is great for households with a lot of children. If there are toddlers in the house an adult supervision is needed as the dogs can get hurt easily due to their delicate bone structure.
These dogs have a keen sense of smell and sound and will alert you to strange noises or movement. The breed is known for its ability to hunt and kill rats. Do not be surprised to find dead rats, squirrels or mice around the house. The Prasky is always active and need to be taken for brisk walks and given plenty of exercise.
When in the yard or outside, always keep the dog on a leash to prevent it from scampering after small animals. Unlike other small breeds Prasky’s should not be carried as they need to walk to strengthen their bones and satisfy their exercise urges.
These breeds do not tolerate cold very well and are more inclined to warm weather. During cold seasons always provide a sweater or a warm blanket.
Compared to small dogs the Prasky is a very quiet dogs and is not much of a yapper. They behave as if they are large dogs, trapped in a small dog’s body
Grooming, Haircuts and Shedding
The Prazsky Krysarik ‘s coat has short glossy hair that comes in many colours. The most common colours are black and tan. The other common colours include brown and tan, blue and tan, lilac and tan, yellow, red.
The breed is a medium shedder and so the coat needs occasional brushing to remove the hairs. Wiping with a wet towel is also recommended.

How to Train
The breed has an inherent nature to please its owners and this can be used to train the dog. The dogs are fast learners and as they are highly intelligent, they can be trained to respond to a variety of commands and they can also perform a lot of tricks and tasks.
Even though this is true training a Prasky could be tricky mainly because of his very playful nature.
The Prasky can be sensitive to scolding and criticism and they have to be trained with a mixture of gentleness, treats and recognition for his efforts. Training of the dog has to start from an early age itself.
Health Issues and Food
Diet: Dry food, milk, meat, eggs can be given. Food must be rationed according to stage of growth and activity level
Allergies: Not prone to allergies
Health problems: Breed is prone to pattelar luxation. As they have very delicate bone structures, fractures are commonplace. Problems due to retained milk teeth may also occur commonly
