Smooth Fox Terrier Personality traits and Temperament
Smooth Fox Terriers happy, lively and inquisitive, dogs who are usually bright and quick to learn. They are very confident and have a big attitude towards life. They are very loyal towards their families and are very protective of them. They are high energy dogs and require a lot of exercise before they can settle down.
They are lovers of comfort and require early socialization. They are comical, funny and playful and make excellent companion dogs. They are likely to go exploring and therefore whenever taken outside must be kept on a leash. They should not be left alone in the yard and ensure that the fencing is always secure.
They always seek the company of their owners and do not like being left alone particularly well. Whenever they feel neglected they can create a lot of commotion through their barking and also get into a lot of mischief.
They are excellent dogs to have around kids and due to their sturdy build they can even tolerate a little rough play. They are not very friendly to other dogs. They don’t socialize very well with cats and it is a very bad idea to have both of them in the same household.
They are social dogs but are wary of strangers. They will alert you to any noise or sound in the vicinity. They also get along well with older people and are good therapy dogs
